Jurmala beach

Jurmala Jurmalas population is approximately 59 000. It is a Baltic sea spa-town, which is 25 km away from Riga and is easily reached by car or by train. It is famous for its mild climate, fresh sea air, medical mud baths and mineral water. The resort, created through the unification of 3 small towns - Sloka, Kemeri and Jurmala. This is a place to relax and spend lazy days on the beach. In the summer season the air temperature is between 20 and 30 degrees centigrace, with water temperature climbing up to 20 degree. Architecture in the resort consists of a delightful mixture of wooden summer cottages built at the beginning of the century, spa buildings as well as recently-built private homes with landscaped gardens. There are nearly 40 different hotels and spas in Jurmala offering overnight stays, recreation, health cures and beauty treatments at a reasonable price. In the Kemeri National Park is possible to take advantage of the curative sulphur springs and mud baths.
Recreation facilities are extensive including tennis courts, gyms, billiards, bowling, boating, yachting, water motorcycling and horseback riding. Gourmands can delight in Jurmala restaurants and bars. Those seeking spiritual stimulation can enjoy the resort's many at galleries, lokal amusements and concerts. Parks and museums

Riga,the capital of Latvia, and larges city in the Baltic States.
Riga is a very beautiful town,where are a lot of historical and culturally-educating places which i love to visit the most. For example,in my home town there are plenty of parks - pieces of nature in a crowded place,full of technologies and no sign of forests or lakes. I enjoy the atmosphere that reigns in parks. My most adored park is Vermundes park because of the scene that is located in the center of the park. A lot of concerts and performances take place there.


To understand the grand beauty of thus you have to go there. No photos or stories can't give you the real picture of it.

My another beloved park is located near the National Opera, and it's called the central park. On the territory of the park there is a small hillock,about 15 meters high,you can to go the top of it,sit and relax,drink a cola on a hot summers day. Walking around in this wonderful place gives me a really great mood. The magic beauty of small artificial waterfalls charms me,i can gaze at them for a long time. Also it can be fun to feed the birds.

Talking about educating places, i would mention our best museums. One of them is porcelain museum. It's rather small,but worth for visiting. You can see there statues,made from porcelain. You may buy them as souvenirs. The second-best museum for me is the medical museum. It is full of disgusting but interesting thing to see, like parts of bodies,germs and other. If you want to know better the history of Latvia,you should go to the Historical museum of Latvia.

In Latvia there are a lot of restaurants and cafes.We have a lot of multi-cultural restaurants.Such as sushi bars,Italian restaurants,Indian restaurants,Armenian restaurants,fast food restaurants.We have also a lot of pubs,tea houses and rock cafes.The most popular is Lido-place where you can taste Latvian national or Russian national food.
Beer Cellar cuisine - Traditional Latvian dishes and spicy snacks to beer. Let’s celebrate!
To get the Latvian feeling we suggest to try some national dishes like: pork ribs, pork ears and grey peas with fried bacon. Cold snacks: various salads, savoury meat, toasts and various fish dishes; LIDO smoked fishes are especially tasty. We recommend to have these snacks with a glass of LIDO live beer.



Bistro cuisine - Democratic atmosphere and prices, as well as wide choice of dishes.
Everyone can choose a meal to his/her own taste and possibilities from the excellent bistro cuisine. We offer almost 500 different meat and fish dishes, pasta, pizza, pancakes and desserts. LIDO BREWERY - The restaurant type mini-brewery, the only one of its kind in Latvia, where only live beer is made according to LIDO brewers’ recipes.
Three types of live beer: LIDO Light, LIDO Special and LIDO Mead are made simultaneously at the LIDO brewery. Any visitor is welcome to watch the brewing process in Beer Cellar. Capacity of the brewery is 900 lifters of unstrained beer per day. A full production cycle lasts from 21 to 28 days.
There are possibility to taste LIDO beer in LIDO beer pubs, restaurants and bistro. Beer is delivered to LIDO Recreation center Beer Cellar bars through special pipes - pythons - directly from the ready-made beer tanks.

School education:

After nine years of basic education, secondary education is provided in general secondary schools (3 years), vocational schools (2 to 3 years), and vocational secondary schools (4 years). General secondary schools award the Certificate of General Secondary Education. Vocational schools (2-3 years) award Certificates of Vocational Education. Vocational secondary schools award a Diploma of Vocational Secondary Education which is also valid for university entrance.

Higher education:

Academic higher education (ISCED level 5A) programmes are based upon fundamental and/or applied science; they usually comprise a thesis at the end of each stage and lead to the degrees of Bakalaurs (Bachelor) and Maģistrs (Master). The Bachelor degree is awarded after completion of the first stage of studies.Since 2001, professional Bakalaurs and Maģistrs can also be awarded.

IH Riga Satva:
IH Riga Satva is a first class language centre that has been working in language education for over 14 years.In the last six years we have moved into our new premises and have affiliated with International House. International House is the world leader in language provision and with their help we have continued to raise our standards and quality. We now have over 50 teachers working for us and almost 2000 students. In addition to English we also teach other modern languages such as, Latvian, Russian, Spanish, Italian, French and German.

IH Riga is located less than two minutes from the Central Train station in the city centre and less than ten minutes walk from the Old Town. The building has four floors and has 34 classrooms.
